Later start dates for Upper Grand District School Board
Board says it needs more time for staffing purposes
Some students in the Upper Grand District School Board will start classes later in September than initially expected, the board announced Friday.
Elementary students attending in-person classes will begin school on a staggered entry schedule, arranged in order of students' last names, starting Thursday, Sept. 10.
Grade 9 students will attend orientation on Sept. 10 and 11. All secondary students will begin instruction on Sept. 14.
Students attending remote elementary school will begin on Sept. 14 or Sept. 15, while students attending remote secondary school will begin Sept. 14.
All students enrolled in the board's self-contained developmental programs will start school as expected on Sept. 8.
Extended registration
In a statement, the UGDSB said the delayed start dates are the result of the board's extended student pre-registration period.
"[This] pushed back staffing timelines and also impacted the time available for schools to timetable and schedule appropriately," the board said.
Further details about the staggered entry schedule are available on the board's website.
