Oil-soaked wild raccoon cleaned, released by K-W Humane Society

Animal control officers with the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society discovered a young raccoon in a local dumpster, doused in motor oil. After a cleanup, it was released back into the city.

A young raccoon covered in motor oil has been given a second chance after it was rescued from a dumpster and given an emergency cleanup by the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society.

The society received a call about a raccoon in distress and animal control officers found a juvenile raccoon inside a dumpster.

The animal was soaked in motor oil. Officers brought the male animal back to the humane society to be cleaned up.

A veterinarian had to sedate the animal before the raccoon could be safely bathed.

After a bath, the animal was blow dried and placed in a carrier.

The raccoon was monitored and after waking up, was released in the evening to the neighbourhood where it was found.

The raccoon woke up in the crate and, once alert, was taken back to the neighbourhood where it was found and released. (Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society)
