Fire at vacant building in Morriston is arson, police say

Police are investigating after they say a fire at an abandoned building in Morriston was deliberately set early Sunday morning.

A fire at an abandoned building in Morriston early Sunday morning is being considered arson, police say.

A driver noticed fire at the vacant building on Queen Street in the hamlet south of Guelph on Highway 6 around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

Several fire departments, including Guelph, Guelph-Eramosa, Puslinch and Hamilton responded to the fire.

No one was injured in the blaze.

On Monday, Ontario Provincial Police said it is believed the fire was deliberately set.

It is another case in a string of fires at abandoned buildings around Wellington County.
