A Mennonite church outside of Harriston, Ont., was vandalized over the weekend, spray painted with offensive language that appears to target Mennonites for their faith.

Wellington County OPP received a call from the deacon of the Cedarvale Conservative Mennonite Church on Saturday morning, reporting vandalism overnight.

Profanity and offensive language had been graffitied on the church door, the rear of the building, as well as the playground and other church property.

A police spokeswoman said she has not been told whether the OPP is treating the incident as a hate crime.

No arrests have been made and there are no suspects, but damage is estimated at $500.

Police say the same church was vandalised fifteen years ago, with no arrests made.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
