Mayors of Kitchener and Guelph place friendly wager on OHL playoff series

'It's on.' Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic has agreed to a friendly wager with Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie over the current OHL playoff series between the Kitchener Rangers and Guelph Storm. The Storm lead the best of seven series 2-0.

Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic may soon be sporting a Guelph Storm jersey after agreeing to a friendly wager over the 2019 Ontario Hockey League playoff series, which has teams from the two cities face off.

Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie proposed the wager on Twitter.

"Loser has to wear winner's team jersey for a portion of an upcoming city council meeting and buy winner a case of some local brew?" Guthrie tweeted.

"It's on," Vrbanovic wrote back. "You're going to look good in a @OHLRangers jersey."

Vrbanovic also noted Guthrie will have to buy his favourite beer himself "as it won't come from this series."

Vrbanovic, though, may be regretting the bet as the Guelph Storm lead the best of seven series, two games to none.

Friday night's game in Guelph ended with a score of 4-2, but Sunday saw the Storm shut out the Rangers 7-0.

Game 3 goes Tuesday night at The Aud, followed by Game 4 on Thursday night in Kitchener.

If needed, Game 5 is scheduled for Friday in Guelph, Game 6 would be March 31 in Kitchener and Game 7 would go April 2 in Guelph.
