Kitchener mayor hopes in-person events will spark community spirit
Mayor says next few months will bring 'community reconnection and positive memories'
Get ready to see classic cars, hear the blues, eat ribs and attend festivals in person in the coming months at public events that will "spark our Kitchener community spirit once again," the city's mayor says.
"I'm optimistic that we're headed toward a spring, summer and fall full of community reconnection and positive memories," Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanvoic said in a news release on Friday announcing the return of in-person events.
The events announced include:
- Neighbour's Day on June 18 with a new Neighbours Night event in Victoria Park on June 17.
- The K-W Multicultural Festival on June 25 to 26.
- Canada Day celebration on July 1 in downtown Kitchener.
- Downtown Kitchener Ribfest and Craft Beer Show on July 15 to 17.
- Wayback Festival on July 23.
- Kitchener Blues Festival on August 4 to 7.
- Kidspark on August 21 and so much more.
- Oktoberfest from Sept. 23 to Oct. 15.
"While we are moving forward cautiously and continuing to practice good public health guidelines, the city is thrilled to bring back in-person events and festivals that will let Kitchener residents connect with friends, family and neighbours," Vrbanovic said.
The city also noted that there will be more than 25 patios springing up outside restaurants and bars as part of the Downtown Kitchener BIA's patio program.
