Winterloo is on in Waterloo to celebrate all things snow and ice
A cloudy weekend with possible flurries is the forecast for Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County, but at least the polar vortex appears to have moved away from the area for now.
The Kitchener Rangers are home Friday night to the Owen Sound Attack, then head to Erie to take on the Otters Saturday night.
The Guelph Storm are home Friday night, hosting the Brantford Bulldogs. Then they hit the road to Oshawa for a Sunday evening game.
Winterloo
Saturday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Uptown Waterloo
There are many events to celebrate winter, from meeting sled dogs to taking photos on an ice throne, enjoy some maple taffy or skate on the outdoor rink and enjoy music spun by DJ King Kadeem.
There's also a comfort food crawl at participating restaurants and the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery will have winter-themed art activities.
A Celtic Celebration
Saturday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Avondale United Church, Stratford
The Stratford Symphony Orchestra is performing with The Bookends as guest artists in this concert which will feature Celtic music that will blend traditional melodies with a modern twist.
Gung Haggis Fat Choy
Saturday 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Region of Waterloo Museum, Kitchener
Celebrate both Robbie Burns Day and Chinese New year at this dinner. There will be Chinese and Scottish performers and food. Performers include Scantily Plaid, the Grand River Chinese Orchestra, bagpipes, lion dancers, highland dancing and more. Tickets are required.
Fourth Friday Concert: Transstar
Friday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Guelph Civic Museum
Every fourth Friday, the museum hosts a different event to celebrate music, history and community.
Transstar created Blackball, a nonprofit arts education program that provides free electronic music training and tools to underserved youth. Expect a performance of electronic pop and reimagined covers.

Downtown Guelph
It's another weekend of music in downtown Guelph as part of the Music Weekends series. No Name Birthday Band plays Saturday at 2 p.m. at Red Papaya. Susans and Jodah John play Sunday at 2 p.m., although the location was listed as TBD on the Facebook page.
3D Snowman Painting
Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kitchener Farmers Market
Crafty Crystal will lead this art workshop to create some snowmen. All materials are provided. Registration is required.
