Two men have been charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder in the 2019 death of a man from Kitchener, Ont.

Jason John Brown, 43, was last seen on Jessie Street in Harriston on March 12, 2019. A day later, his body was found just north of Whitby, east of Toronto, near Stevenson Road and Durham Regional Road 5.

A post-mortem at the time deemed Brown's death a homicide, but police have not released how he died or the circumstances surrounding his death.

In September 2023, Wellington Ontario Provincial Police said they had recovered two of three vehicles investigators believe may be connected to Brown's death: a light-coloured Chevrolet Cruze and a dark red minivan. A third vehicle police were searching for, a light-coloured Chrysler 300, had not been found at that time.

A substantial reward was offered earlier in 2023 for information about the case.

On Wednesday, a 32-year-old man from Edmonton was arrested and transported from Alberta. The other man charged is a 33-year-old man from Brantford. They both appeared in a Guelph courtroom on Friday.

Wellington OPP, with the assistance of the force's criminal investigation branch and the biker enforcement unit, continue to investigate Brown's death.

Anyone with information about his death is asked to contact Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or you can leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
