Kitchener's James E. Wagner Cultivation has won the employer of the year award from the Canadian Cannabis Awards.

The awards were handed out Thursday night in Toronto.

James E. Wagner Cultivation was selected by the company's employees and through an employer survey done by Cannabis at Work, an agency that provides information about cannabis jobs, recruitment, online training and workplace impairment training.

The awards also include prizes for: top cannabis podcast, top bong, top accessory shop, and various awards on cannabis products, including flowers and oil. The awards are organized by Lift and Co., a cannabis-focused tech and media company in Toronto.

Matei Olaru, CEO of Lift and Co., said the awards are a chance to show the value and quality of cannabis products being offered to Canadians, "while emboldening essential trust in our burgeoning world-class industry."

"The almost 50 per cent increase in public votes this year is a testament to the level of public awareness and standard of excellence the [awards] represent today," Olaru said.
