King and Erb intersection in Waterloo to be closed — again July 24
More road reconstruction in uptown Waterloo means King Street from Erb Street to the ION tracks and Erb from Albert to King will be closed to vehicles starting July 24.
More road reconstruction in uptown Waterloo means King Street from Erb Street to the ION tracks and Erb from Albert to King will be closed to vehicles starting approximately July 24.
The closures come from Phase 2 of "streetscaping," the Region of Waterloo said in a release Thursday.
The closure is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, and last for approximately 10 weeks, the Region said.
Alternate routes
The region noted that:
- Access to the Waterloo Town Square north parking lot will be maintained with at least one entrance-exit open at all times. "This entrance/exit will alternate as the work progresses and two-way access to the north parking lot is also available off Caroline Street," the release stated.
- The existing detour on Bridgeport Road between Regina and King streets will now extend to Albert Street. It will be re-signed to allow two-way traffic access and will remain in place during the project.
- A single traffic lane will be open on Erb Street to Albert Street, for vehicle access to Albert Street and Bridgeport Road.
The Region said routes for foot traffic will be maintained "except when short-term closures are required during non-peak times of the day for sidewalk work across building entrances."
