Guelph man who nabbed garden gnomes arrested

Guelph gardeners can rest easy after police arrested a man in connection with the theft of several garden gnomes and lights.

Around 5:30 a.m. Monday, police got a call about a man near Burns Drive and Nicklin Road who appeared to be stealing garden lights. Police found the man and discovered he had several garden gnomes and lights. 

They arrested the 45-year-old man, and he has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 7. 

Police said that while some of the goods have been returned to their owners, a few items still need to be claimed. The public can call the Guelph police property unit at 519-824-1212 ext. 7338 to claim an item.
