Guelph will be the home of one of Ontario's first cannabis retail stores, the LCBO and Ontario Cannabis Store announced Wednesday.

It will be located at 304 Stone Rd., right across from Stone Road Mall.

The other three locations announced are on Gerrard Street in Toronto, Gardiners Road in Kingston and Harbour Expressway in Thunder Bay.

Through municipal engagements with the LBCO, input from local areas of interest was used to pinpoint the first four locations, said the release.

Entrance lobby separate from retail space

IDs will be checked and no one under 19 will be allowed to enter the main retail store, and stores are being designed with a lobby area, before individuals enter the main retail space.

Stores will be equipped to provide consumers product and health information, as well as information on federal guidelines.

Forty more stores are expected to open this year with another 40 by July 2019. The province has plans to set up 150 cannabis retail stores by 2020.
