Doors Open Waterloo Region: A look inside the Cambridge Armoury
The annual Doors Open Waterloo Region is taking place Saturday, offering the opportunity to see look inside buildings not normally accessible to the public.
Doors Open Waterloo Region is an annual event that celebrates local architecture and history. It offers the chance to look inside buildings and facilities which are not normally open to the public, or waives fees normally charged with a visit.
In advance of the festival, CBC News was granted a tour of the Col. J.A. McIntosh, DSO, ED Armoury in Cambridge. It houses the reserve regiment of the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada. The armoury was built in 1914, the same year that WWI began, and is celebrating its 100th anniversary on Saturday with a host of events including a parade and demonstrations.
