131 new COVID-19 cases, 3 more deaths in Waterloo region over weekend
There were 58 cases reported on Saturday and 73 cases on Sunday
Region of Waterloo public health is reporting 58 new cases on Saturday and 73 new cases on Sunday.
There were three new deaths reported over the weekend, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 134.
The number of people in hospital with the infection remains at 37, 13 of whom are in the intensive care unit.
There have been 4,460 confirmed cases in the region since March and 3,872 have resolved.
Outbreaks
There are 26 outbreaks in the region.
The outbreak at Cambridge Country Manor continues to grow with 26 confirmed cases in residents and 12 in staff as of Sunday.
There are outbreaks at five other long term care facilities in the region including one case at Sunnyside Home LTC, one case at Derbecker's Heritage House, 14 cases at the Village of Winston Park, one case at Pinehaven Villages LTC and one case at Nithview Home.
All three hospitals in the region are reporting outbreaks including two at Grand River Hospital, one at St. Mary's General Hospital and one at Cambridge Memorial Hospital
There are also four outbreaks in schools including Monsignor Doyle Catholic Secondary School in Cambridge, Franklin Public School in Kitchener, Elmira District Secondary School and KidsAbility.
The University of Waterloo also declared an outbreak last week involving two students.
Other outbreaks include:
- Sunnyside Supportive Housing.
- BrightPath Childcare Centre.
- Four in congregate settings.
- Fire Station.
- Manufacturing/industrial workplace.
- Food processing workplace.
- Warehouse.
- Trades workplace.
