No one in our community should go hungry

CBC Kitchener-Waterloo's annual Sounds of the Season for 2021 will be a week of programming on The Morning Edition.

We'll bring you special Sounds of the Season music and stories between 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. from Dec. 6 to 10.

During the week, there will be interviews with:

  • Wendi Campbell, CEO of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
  • Sheneka Myers, program co-ordinator at the YW Kitchener-Waterloo.
  • The folks behind the Distro run by the Laurier Students Public Interest Research Group and Martin Luther University College to provide food to university students.
  • We'll also hear from reporter Paula Duhatschek who took a tour of rural food banks to hear what they're facing as 2021 wraps up and what they expect to experience in 2022.
  • Food columnist Andrew Coppolino will visit the kitchen of Chef Arielle Niels in Kitchener to learn how to make a low-cost meal.

Last year, the campaign raised more than $100,000 for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

Sounds of the Season dishes

Each year, a chef from the region has been part of the Sounds of the Season show, offering up ideas for delicious meals that can be made using canned or boxed items or for very little money.

All of those recipes can be found in the the Sounds of the Season Cookbook here.
