Body found in Kitchener, section of Highland Road closed for investigation
Police responded to a 911 call about a body found beside westbound lane of Highland Road
Police are investigating after the body of a man was found beside Highland Road in Kitchener Monday.
Officers closed off a section of Highland Road between Westforest Trail and Ira Needles Boulevard Monday just before 11:00 a.m.
A man at the scene told media that he and his colleague found a body at around 10:30 a.m.
Police say officers were called to the area for a report of an injured male.
"The initial investigation indicates that the male appears to have been struck by a motor vehicle that left the scene," police said in a release later Monday afternoon.
Members of the service's major crime unit, traffic services unit and forensic identification unit are continuing to investigate and police say it's expected the area will have a heavy police presence throughout the day.
