'Amazing!' Photographer captures aurora borealis in Conestogo
'If you looked closely you could see the streaks as the aurora danced'
The northern lights made an appearance in Waterloo region Thursday night and Della VanDokkumburg-Stroobosscher was able to snap a few photos.
She had just checked online and noticed the aurora borealis was at "storm level" on a tracking website.
"[I] popped my head out the back door and saw stars, so I went down the road to the golf course — I have a go-to place — and there it was," VanDokkumburg-Stroobosscher told CBC K-W when she shared the photos through our Facebook page.
"For a brief few moments you could see some green with the naked eye; what's more, if you looked closely you could see the streaks as the aurora danced. Amazing!"
She took the photos between 9:23 p.m. and 9:38 p.m. in Conestogo beside the Grand River.
"It's always fun to try to capture the aurora. It can be quite elusive around here," she said.
