Manitou - Spirit of the Land opening reception and artist's talk

Kitchener Public Library, Central Branch, 85 Queen Street North, Kitchener

Paintings by Guelph's Jessie Buchanan will be featured in the Kitchener Public Library's Central Branch for the month of June. Buchanan is a member of Aamjiwnaang First Nations, and her work focuses on her lived experiences, blending the modern world with Indigenous traditions. The library picked Buchanan's work expressly to mark Canada's 150th — and Buchanan's work is also being featured in the Canada 150 Art Express'd project at the Winnipeg Art Gallery this summer. She'll be giving a talk on Saturday, so don't miss it.

​​​Tri-Pride Live Music Festival

12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Saturday, June 3

Victoria Park Clock Tower, Kitchener

It's going to be a big, family-friendly party in Victoria Park this Saturday. The live music kicks off at 12:30, and continues through the day, with several performances by drag kings and queens in between. There's a zone for kids, that includes a bouncy house and games, plus tons of vendors, food trucks and a special mural paint project.

The ​Breithaupt Brothers Come Home to Kitchener

The Registry Theatre, Kitchener

Don and Jeff Breithaupt are showcasing their songbook in concert at The Registry Theatre this weekend. You'll hear the New Vibes Jazz Quintet, the Penderecki String Quartet, as well as vocalists Mary-Catherine Pazzano, Jon NehRita, Derek Hines, Brenda Lewis, Denise Baker, Shelley McPherson, Rosie Samra, Robin Habermehl and Jesse Treneer. 

​Creativity Picnic 2017

Exhibition Park, Guelph

​This is the third annual Creativity Picnic. It starts with a dance festival at noon with performances by Guelph Dance, and then the picnic begins at 1 p.m. There will be food trucks, a fairy forest, goods for purchase at the kid market and entertainment from Five the Magician and The Making Box.

The Schneider Male Chorus got its start in 1938, after employees from the J.M. Schneider Meat Packing Co. met for a picnic. The SMC is celebrating Canada's 150th with a concert, and they're welcoming the Ontario Male Chorus to this special concert, featuring songs by Canadian composers and arrangers, as well as music with Canadian themes.
