All local beaches open after high levels of E. coli detected at Guelph Lake, Belwood Quarry

You'll be able to cool off at area beaches this weekend after all were declared safe by public health. Earlier Thursday, Belwood Quarry and Guelph Lake’s main beach were listed as having high levels of E. coli.

All local beaches are open again and ready for swimmers and those looking to cool off.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health said early Thursday morning that two beaches – Belwood Quarry and Guelph Lake's main beach – had a notice posted saying the water had high levels of E. coli,  making it unsafe for swimmers.

But that notice changed in the early afternoon.

Residents can check the status of local beaches on the public health websites.

Environment Canada is forecasting sunny skies and a high of 24 C on Saturday, that jumps to 28 C on Sunday. Hot and sunny temperatures are expected until at least Wednesday.
