Uptick in voters at local advance polls compared to 2019, Elections Canada numbers show

New numbers from Elections Canada show a significant uptick of people voting in advance polls in Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County this past weekend compared to 2019.

Close to 5.8 million Canadians voted over the four days of advance polling from Friday to Monday, a new record. That was an 18 per cent increase from the nearly 4.9 million Canadians who voted in advance polls during the 2019 election, which was the previous record for federal elections since since 1997.
