Voting day is Feb. 27 in the Ontario election, but people can cast their ballots this week in advance polls.

Advance polls run Thursday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can attend any of the advance polling locations in their riding.

Elections Ontario says voter information cards are in the mail and people should get them this week, but people can still vote even if they don't have those cards yet. People can take one piece of ID showing their name and current home address to the polling locations.

The process for voting at an advance voting location is:

  • When a person arrives, an election official on site will ask to see their ID to check to see if they are on the voters list.
  • People who are not on the voters list will be asked to sign a declaration.
  • People who are on the voters list, or those who sign the declaration, will then be issued a ballot.
  • People will go behind a voting screen to mark their ballot.
  • The marked ballot is placed into a secrecy folder then taken to an election official to be placed into the tabulator.

People can also still apply to vote by mail through the Elections Ontario website. That must be done before 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21.

People who require a home visit to vote can contact their local election office by 6 p.m. on Feb. 26 to schedule a visit.

Voting day is Feb. 27 and polls will be open that day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
