Protesters continue to push back against biosolids
B.C.'s Environment Minister says biosolids are not a human health hazard.Tell that to the Friends of the Nicola Valley. They're holding a protest rally today.
People in the Nicola Valley are angry about what the Environment Minister had to say about biosolids
One of our Daybreak interviews from this week helped sparked a protest rally in Merritt today.
We were talking with BC Environment Minister Mary Polak.
Her department has just launched a public review of the regulations around biosolids.
Biosolids are the treated byproduct of municipal sewage.
They're often spread on agricultural land to improve the soil.
Mary Polak told us that biosolids pose no risk to human health, but that's not what the Friends of the Nicola Valley believe.
Georgia Clement speaks for the group.
