The home of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will no longer be called Tim Hortons Field.

The Hamilton Sports Group, which owns the Ticats, Forge FC and the long-term stadium lease, announced the change Wednesday as the 10-year agreement comes to a close.

It will announce a new naming rights partner in "due course," the group said.

"Tim Hortons will remain a significant and long-term partner of the Tiger-Cats and the stadium itself," said Matt Afinec, president of Hamilton Sports Group, in a media release.

"We also look forward to continuing our great relationships with our local Tim Hortons restaurant owners here in Hamilton, who were instrumental in the stadium's success over the last 10 years."

The stadium in the lower city's east end was originally called Ivor Wynne Stadium and was then rebuilt and reopened in 2014 as Tim Hortons Field.

Since then it's hosted over 250 games and entertainment events, including two Grey Cups, the NHL Heritage Classic and FIFA World Cup qualifier, said the media release.

"We're proud of our 10-year partnership that helped launch a beautiful new multi-purpose stadium for the city of Hamilton," said Hope Bagozzi, chief marketing officer for Tim Hortons in the statement.

The restaurant chain, founded on Ottawa Street N. in the city, will continue to sponsor the Ticats, she said.
