All YMCA Child Care Centres throughout Hamilton, Burlington and Brantford are also closed
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board are closed Monday morning after a weekend of wild weather in the city.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the city of Hamilton after freezing rain fell Sunday and Saturday.
Environment Canada says "Rain at times heavy is affecting a good portion of Southern Ontario this morning, along with some residual freezing rain near or north of the Oak Ridges Moraine. Rainfall amounts in the 20 to 30 mm range are likely by the times it tapers off from west to east today."
The weather agency warns "Extra care should be taken during this morning's commute. Standing water may be potentially hazardous on poorly drained roads and highways due to the weekend ice accumulation. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks."
The Waterfront Trail (Lift Bridge-Confederation Park) & the Chedoke Radial Trail (Chedoke Golf-Scenic Dr) are both closed at this time.

Forestry crews have been busy clearing fallen branches. According to Hydro One, less than 20 customers in the Ancaster area have been impacted by the storm and have experienced outages. The estimated restoration time is Tuesday around 11 p.m.
All lanes on the southbound off ramp at King Street on the Red Hill Valley Parkway are closed until further notice due to an assessment of a bridge structure.
Motorists are being asked to park their cars off the street wherever possible for road clearing because the city says the roads are safer and more effective if there are no parked cars along the streets.
The city is also asking people to not push or shovel ice or snow into the roadway and should also ensure that fire hydrants on or near their property are kept clear.
