St. Ann Catholic Elementary School on Saint Ann Street in Hamilton has become the city's third school outbreak site in two days.

Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) says two staff tested positive for the virus Thursday. They were both last in school on Feb. 12.

Marnie Jadon, HWCDSB spokesperson, said 31 students and 14 staff are self-isolating, and two classes have closed. The school will remain open and the board may deploy targeted testing clinics at the school.

There were also cases of COVID-19 at St. Mark Catholic Elementary School, Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School, St. Joachim Catholic Elementary School and St. Ann Catholic Elementary School in Ancaster, but none of them had close contacts in the school community, according to HWCDSB.

Hamilton's public school board said one student each at Dundas Valley Secondary School and Greensville Elementary School have COVID-19, but those students had no close contacts in the school community.
