13 new school-related COVID-19 cases in Hamilton

Ten students, two staff members and a third-party employee in Hamilton schools have all tested positive for COVID-19.

This is the second consecutive day of double-digit COVID-19 cases in schools

Ten students, two staff members and a third-party employee in Hamilton schools have all tested positive for COVID-19, Hamilton's public and Catholic school boards say.

On Monday, there were six cases that exposed students and staff, making Tuesday the second day in a row of double-digit cases.

Three days into schools reopening, there were just three COVID-19 cases. In the last two days, there have been 28 cases, 18 of which exposed other students and staff.

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board reported six new cases, all of which led others to self-isolate.

The new cases are:

  • A Pauline Johnson Elementary School student.
  • A Glendale Secondary School student.
  • An Elizabeth Bagshaw Elementary School student.
  • A Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School student.
  • A South Meadow Elementary School staff member.
  • A Cathy Wever Elementary School student.

The before and after school program at Cathy Wever Elementary School is the site of an outbreak with two infected students.

Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board reported seven new cases. Six led others to self-isolate.

Those cases are:

  • Two St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Elementary School students last in school on Feb. 19.
  • A St. Agnes Catholic Elementary School student last in school on Feb. 19
  • A Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Elementary School community staff member last in school on Feb. 19.
  • A third-party worker at St. Eugene Catholic Elementary School last in school on Feb. 18.
  • A St. Thérèse of Lisieux Catholic Elementary School student last in school on Feb. 17.
