A 20-year-old Hamilton man was arrested, police say, after testing determined he was driving while impaired by cannabis.
Shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday, a citizen who was driving behind a Chrysler Sebring on the Red Hill Expressway observed the other driver appeared to be impaired.
The citizen contacted police, providing vehicle details and its location.
Police stopped the car in the area of Greenhill Avenue and Glen Vista Drive and, through investigation, officers determined the driver was impaired.
A drug recognition evaluation was conducted and the drug category was determined to be cannabis, police said.
The driver was released on a promise to appear with a court date of Nov. 20, while the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The driver will also have his licence suspended for 90 days.
