Internet problems continue for customers in southern Ontario
Those working from home, students lose service for 2nd time this week
Students and those trying to work from home across southern Ontario have been hampered with internet connection problems for the second time this week.
Issues with internet access seemed to start shortly after 10 a.m. Friday morning and continued until early afternoon.
"We wish to inform you that we have implemented solutions to resolve the situation, and now you should progressively see your services restored," Cogeco tweeted.
"It is important to note that this appears to be a broader issue not exclusive to Cogeco," it added.
The disruption follows an outage on Jan. 5 that affected multiple internet providers from Windsor to Ottawa.
By Friday morning, people in Windsor, Niagara, Hamilton and Halton were tweeting about loss of service yet again.
It also comes one day after the provincial government announced elementary school students would be learning remotely until Jan. 25.
The original plan was to have elementary school kids return to in-person classes on Jan. 11. Secondary students in southern Ontario are still scheduled to return to class on Jan. 25.
🚨 Attention Parents, Students & Staff! There’s an internet outage affecting Cogeco, Bell & Rogers. This may affect your ability to access your remote learning platform. Thanks for your patience as we wait for technicians to resolve the issues! pic.twitter.com/DgmgvJwbiJ

Cogeco tweeted that the issue causing frustrations was outside of its network and resulting in intermittent service.
Halton Catholic District School Board said that some Bell customers were also having issues accessing the internet. Other school boards, including the Niagara Catholic District School Board, had community members struggling with access.
Anecdotally, we're hearing that @cogeco is back. Hopefully, we may now all resume our regularly scheduled Friday. May the rest of your day be happy and your bandwidth stay strong. #onlinelearning #21stcenturyproblems pic.twitter.com/5xKSineETY
