About 110 families showed up to the animal shelter for the photo sessions on Saturday, and more are expected to come on Sunday, the last day of the event, said Sylvie MacLean, event coordinator for the HBSPCA. Two previous weekends in November also drew dozens of pet lovers.

Cats and dogs aren't the only ones who received the good-kid treatment, however. Last year, Santa posed with rabbits, ferrets and some colourful tarantulas, according to the organization.

The annual event helps raise funds to support homeless and neglected animals.
