SIU investigates injury in Hamilton
Ontario's Special Investigation Unit has been called in to investigate an incident in downtown Hamilton.
It started late Saturday when local police tried to check a car parked in the lot of 256 Duke St., near Queen Street South and Duke Street.
The driver of the car tried to escape, but police caught up with him and made an arrest in short order.
That's when something went wrong. The driver had to be taken to hospital. Now he's been diagnosed with a spinal injury. So far his name hasn't released.
The SIU was called in early Sunday to figure out what happened.
Hamilton Police Staff Sgt. Mike Cunliffe said he wasn't able to make any comment because of the SIU investigation.
The SIU is called in any time there's a death or serious injury involving police.
