Sign of spring: A glimpse of a falcon egg on Hamilton Sheraton
Excitement builds as falcons lay eggs in nest on Hamilton Sheraton
A falcon egg has been spotted in the nest on the Sheraton Hotel. And there may be a second.
The new egg —or eggs — mark the second year that the Sheraton nest's newest breeding pair Lily and Ossie, have occupied the nest.
Reports suggest the first egg may have been laid as early as March 20th. The incubation period is about 40 days. That means the first egg could hatch some time in late April.
Falcon watchers believe more than one egg has been laid, but can't visually confirm the number. Typically, Peregrine's lay between two to four eggs.
On the Falconwatch community page you have to look closely at the image to see the egg. Among the grey rocks is the red-brown, curved egg.

Lily and Ossie had three eggs last year, their first in the nest, with two chicks successfully hatched. The pair stayed in Hamilton downtown over the winter. Ossie is originally from Etobicoke, while Lily was hatched in Michigan.
They were spotted occasionally dropping by the nest ledge. The pair replaced Surge and Madame X early in 2015. Surge died in January from injuries. Madame X disappeared in March with some suggesting she lost a territorial battle with Lily.
This is the 22nd year Peregrine falcons have nested at the King Street West hotel .
