A Canadian delegation will be in France this weekend to commemorate a somber anniversary.
Seventy years ago on Sunday a mostly Canadian force staged a raid on the Nazi-occupied port of Dieppe.
The mission went poorly from the start.
When it was over more than 900 Canadians were dead and thousands more were wounded or captured. Almost 200 of the dead were from Hamilton.
CBC feature reporter Reg Sherren has the story of one of them, 92-year-old Jack McFarland.
McFarland is one of the few remaining Hamilton survivors of that fateful day.
