Hamilton stabbing sends Toronto man to hospital
Hess Village attack occurs on a 'very busy' night for police
A 25-year-old Toronto man suffered multiple stab wounds in an attack outside a bar in Hamilton’s Hess Village.
Hamilton police Staff Sgt. Gary Thompson said the stabbing occurred just after 2 a.m. near Konoba nightclub, located on Hess Street South near George Street.
“It looks like it was a male victim that got into a verbal altercation outside of the bar with at least two other suspects,” he said.
The victim was stabbed in the "upper and lower back," Thompson said.
EMS crews rushed the victim to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators hadn’t yet interviewed the man on Saturday morning, as he was scheduled to undergo surgery, Thompson said.
No one has been arrested in connection with the stabbing, but police are looking for “at least two suspects” in the case, he said.
Thompson said the assault was the most dramatic crime to occur in the city’s central division during a “busy” Friday night for police.
“It was a very busy, alcohol-fuelled disturbances kind of night,” he said.
