The former SCTV co-stars talk to CBC's Eli Glasner about playing 'loose,' their multiple roles in Frankenweenie and working with Tim Burton.

Martin Short fans should feel free to go completely mental — the Hamilton-reared funnyman has been announced as the host of the "Saturday Night Live" Christmas show.

The Emmy-winning "SCTV" vet will host the sketch series for the third time on Dec. 15, according to a press release from NBC.

Paul McCartney will be the musical guest, stopping by the "SNL" stage for a fourth time.

The 62-year-old Short has earned credits in two animated films this year: Tim Burton's "Frankenweenie" and the box-office smash "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted."

He was also a cast member on "SNL" for the 1984-85 season.

"Django Unchained" star Jamie Foxx will host the next edition of the show on Dec. 8, joined by musical guest Ne-Yo.
