A 20-year-old man from Stoney Creek was charged with stunt driving after police say he was driving 119 km/hr in a 50km/hr zone.
Police say on Saturday, around 12:00 a.m, a Hamilton Police officer heard the sounds of tires squealing and a revving engine from a white sedan he suspected of going well over the posted 50 km/hr speed limit. The car was driving on Main Street East, just east of Gage Avenue South. The officer used a speed measuring device which resulted in a reading of 119km/hr. He then initiated a traffic stop, pulled the driver over and charged him with stunt driving.
The driver's licence was seized and suspended for 7 days and his vehicle towed and impounded, police say.
