Hamilton close to hitting $1 billion in building permits
The city of Hamilton's building and planning department has issued building permits for close to $1 billion worth of development so far in 2015.
Planning staff checking daily to see if $1B threshold crossed
City of Hamilton building and planning staff are checking every day for the moment when the building permits issued so far this year will tip over into the billion-dollar category, said city spokeswoman Ann Lamanes.
It'd be the fifth time in six years that threshold has been crossed.
The $978.9 million worth of building permits issued in the first 10 months of 2015 mark the second strongest January-to-October period for building permit activity in the past five years.
In 2012, nearly $1.3 billion in permits were issued by the end of October.
