Dundas dancer is at home on the stage

She has been in motion most of her life. The Toronto-trained modern dancer is also a choreographer and teacher. Born at the Henderson, she was raised in Dundas.
But her natural home is the stage where you can see she is in love with dance. Julia Garlisi appears to perform without effort, the artist disappears and all that remains is movement.
Friday, she danced a three-minute, four-second soliloquy to the music of 14th Century composer Johannes Ciconia at CBC Hamilton during Art Crawl.
Garlisi is spellbinding. As she performs it's as if her eyes turn inward to a hidden horizon. And she just dances.
Listen as she talks about her life as an artist in a slideshow of pictures of her performance by Hamilton photographer Larry Strung.
