Cyclist on $7K bike struck in hit and run
Cyclist hit in Cannon Street bike lanes, police say
Hamilton police are searching for a driver who was involved in a hit and run with a cyclist on a high-end bike on Cannon Street Thursday morning.
It happened just before 10 a.m., police say, when a cyclist on a $7,000 Cannondale bike was riding in the bike lane on Cannon Street between James and MacNab.
A silver-coloured Nissan Sentra "abruptly made a left turn," in front of the cyclist, says Const. Steve Welton, tossing the man from his bike.
The male driver of the car continued into a parking lot and then drove away, police say. The cyclist suffered minor injuries, but there "doesn't appear to be extensive damage to the bicycle," Welton said.
Police are reminding cyclists and drivers to "work in cooperation to ensure everyone's safety," Welton added.
Police are still looking for the driver.
