3 more measles cases confirmed in Niagara Region
5 laboratory-confirmed cases have been verified as of Feb. 16: Niagara Region Public Health
Three more measles cases have been confirmed in Niagara, bringing the total in that region to five cases, according to information posted to the Niagara Region Public Health website Monday.
The cases appear to have been discovered after Niagara officials announced a second case on Saturday.
Niagara's first confirmed case of measles was announced earlier this month as a woman in her early twenties who was not vaccinated against the virus.
Niagara public health officials posted warnings about two Niagara Falls schools — Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Michael High School — where measles could have been transmitted to students, teachers and parents between specific dates.
Public health officials are asking anyone who attended or visited Our Lady of Mount Carmel between Feb. 9 and 10 and Saint Michael High School between Feb. 6 and 10 to watch for symptoms of measles until March 3.
For pregnant women and children who've had only one or no doses of the MMR vaccine, public health officials posted instructions on who to call for information for next steps.
