Over $20,000 was raised for the city's small grants program and local neighbourhoods at the Building Momentum Hamilton event at the new stadium site Thursday.
That money will fund community engagement events throughout the city, including park and alley cleanups, festivals, easter egg hunts, Winterfest and more.
"It was a great event," said Suzanne Brown, the city's director of Neighbourhood and community initiatives. "This allows [neighbourhood groups] to branch out and do engagement in some of our more diverse communities."
An estimated 1,300 people attended the community barbecue and charity event on the new field combined.
