5 teenagers face charges for property obtained by crime over $5K, police say
Two Hamilton teenagers have been charged in connection with the theft of booze from a liquor store. And along with three other teens — one as young as 14 — they face charges for using a stolen getaway car.
On Sunday, Aug. 25, shortly before 5:45 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police in Haldimand County were called to a liquor store on Main Street North in Hagersville.
Police say that two males were seen trying to hide liquor bottles under their clothes. When confronted, police say, one of the teens assaulted an employee as they fled the store and drove away. No one was severely injured.
Members of Six Nations Police Service joined OPP and found the getaway vehicle around Fourth Line Road and Chiefswood Road in Ohsweken, police say.
Police later found out that the car was stolen.
Two males and a female ran from the car and tried to escape police, police say, but were arrested a short distance away.
Police later arrested two more teenagers.
A 16-year-old male, a 14-year-old male, and a 15-year-old female have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
A 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male have been charged with robbery and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
All of the teenagers were from Hamilton.
Four of the five teens will appear in the Youth Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga.
