Hamilton's public and Catholic school boards are reporting six new COVID-19 cases among staff and students doing in-person learning.

Only three of those cases potentially exposed others in school.

An Allan A. Greenleaf Elementary School staff member tested positive according to a notice from the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board on Tuesday.

At the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, a student at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Elementary School was infected. The board says the student was last in school on Friday.

"Any students, staff or cohorts that are required to quarantine will be notified immediately by the school and will be contacted by Hamilton Public Health Services (HPHS) within the next two days," read the letter to families.

A student at St. Michael Catholic Elementary School also tested positive for the virus and was last in school on Friday.

Both St. Michael and St. Teresa have closed a classroom as a result of the cases.
