Police seize semi-automatic rifle, 4 other guns and ammo, arrest 23-year-old man

Police arrested a 23-year-old man Friday and charged him with several weapons-related offences.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man Friday and seized five guns and ammunition from a house on Gertrude Street, a few blocks east of Gage Avenue and south of Burlington Street.

One of the firearms seized was a semi-automatic rifle, a Ruger SR-22.

The other weapons seized were three long-barreled rifles, a prohibited ammunition magazine, ammunition and a starter pistol, police said.

Police charged the man with four counts of possessing a firearm without a licence and knowingly possessing unauthorized firearms, possessing a prohibited device and two counts of possessing a weapon obtained by crime.
