76 Hamilton school-related COVID-19 cases and 9 outbreaks in 6 days

COVID-19 has infected 76 students and staff in Hamilton schools in the past six days.

There were 9 new cases recorded as of early Monday afternoon

COVID-19 has infected 76 students and staff in Hamilton schools in the past six days.

That's an average of more than 12 new infections each day.

There have also been nine outbreaks declared from March 23 to Monday at schools, including:

  • Three students and three staff at École élémentaire Pavillon de la jeunesse (which screened positive for a variant of concern).
  • Three students at St. Bernadette Catholic Elementary School.
  • Three students at Westview Elementary School.
  • Two students at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Elementary School.
  • Two students at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Elementary School.
  • Two students and a staff member from the Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club at Viscount Montgomery Elementary School.
  • Two students at Lisgar Elementary School.
  • Two students at  Lake Avenue Elementary School.
  • Two St. James the Apostle Catholic Elementary School students infected on a school bus.

There were nine new cases recorded as of early Monday afternoon.

  • A Pauline Johnson Elementary School student.
  • A Cathedral High School student and a staff member.
  • A St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School student.
  • A Our Lady of Peace Catholic Elementary School student.
  • A St. Agnes Catholic Elementary School staff member.
  • A St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Elementary School student.
  • A St. John the Baptist student.
  • An ÉÉC Monseigneur-de-Laval student.
