Cold weather is here to stay

Temperatures continue to plummet today as Hamilton's acting medical officer of health issued an extreme cold weather alert on Sunday. As of 7 a.m. Monday, the temperature was - 17 C, but felt more like - 23 C with the wind chill.

Temperatures continue to plummet today as Hamilton's acting medical officer of health issued an extreme cold weather alert on Sunday. 

As of 7 a.m. Monday, the temperature was - 17 C, but felt more like - 23 C with the wind chill. 

It won't warm up too much with a high of - 8 C expected, according to Environment Canada. 

The federal weather agency anticipates winds to pick up Monday morning to 20 km/h, bringing with it a mix of sun and cloud. 

Hamilton city officials warn of frostbite and are reminding residents to bundle up during their morning commute. This pug has the right idea. 

Highways and local roads are moving well Monday morning, after city crews spent the weekend clearing away excess snow and laying down salt.
