Former junior hockey coach and convicted sex offender Graham James's first alleged victim, who never got his day in court or an apology, spoke out to CBC News.
Greg Gilhooly has accused James of sexually abusing him over a period of three years beginning in 1979. However, he agreed to have those charges stayed in an arrangement with Crown prosecutors to expedite their case involving the other victims.
The alleged abuse took a toll of self-loathing and doubt on Gilhooly. In an interview with the CBC's Reg Sherren, Gilhooly described how the legacy of abuse ended his marriage, put his legal career on hold, and even led him to suicidal thoughts.
