Double murder tied to bikers and drugs
Drugs, money and revenge are topping the list of possible motives for last weekend's double murder in Centre Burlington and the investigation is leading police to West Coast drug dealers and East Coast bikers.
Investigators believe Kirk Mersereau and Nancy Christensen were victims of a planned and possibly professional killing.
"There is no doubt there was a target here, two targets here and they were killed," says Sgt. Wayne Noonan of the RCMP.
Mersereau was convicted after a drug bust netted suspects in Nova Scotia and B.C. and because of that police are focusing their investigation on the shady underworld on both the east and west coasts.
Police are also trying to determine if the weekend murders could, in some way, be connected to activity at the club house for the Nova Scotia chapter of the Hells Angels.
In recent weeks the angels have been fortifying the clubhouse, bricking up its windows and adding re-enforced steel doors.
Murder victim Kirk Mersereau was the brother of former Hells Angel Randy Mersereau who was alleged to have been involved in a drug war with the Angels. It's believed he was the target of a bombing at his car dealership in Truro last year. Randy Mersereau dissappeared shortly after the bombing.
Now investigators are wondering if that disappearence, these murders and the club house renovations may be connected.
