BEARS' LAIR - Watch Free on CBC Gem
An exciting new unscripted series that offers once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to Indigenous entrepreneurial hopefuls. Would-be Indigenous tycoons hone and polish their business concepts with support from experts and then hit the hot seat to pitch them to established business leaders. Ultimately, all the participants will receive thousands of dollars worth of valuable hands-on support and mentorship to get their businesses started, and one promising entrepreneur will be awarded a grant for $100,000 to jump start their business. While Canada's Indigenous population makes up only a small percentage of the country's most successful entrepreneurs, this is changing at a rapid pace. Bears' Lair is all about training Indigenous entrepreneurs and inspiring viewers to build their businesses and grow their success the Indigenous way.
Narrated by Jason Momoa, discover the inspiring story and considerable impact of five-time Olympic medallist Duke Kahanamoku. He shattered swimming records and globalized surfing while overcoming racism in a lifetime of personal challenges.
In the 1950s and '60s, an underground network of transgender women and cross-dressing men found refuge at a modest house in the Catskills region of New York. Known as Casa Susanna, the house provided a safe place to express their true selves and live for a few days as they had always dreamed — dressed as and living as women without fear of being incarcerated or institutionalized for their self-expression. Told through the memories of those who visited the house, the film provides a moving look back at a secret world where the persecuted and frightened found freedom, acceptance and, often, the courage to live out of the shadows.
Following three highly successful seasons, the CBC Arts docuseries CANADA'S A DRAG returns with a six-episode fourth season highlighting a diverse array of performers from Halifax to Vancouver. Providing an all-too-rare showcase for alternative drag performers, the show proves that drag doesn't always need to be a race: in Canada, we run together.
Based on the novellas by Luke Jennings and created and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (FLEABAG), Killing Eve centres on two women: Eve is a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn't fulfill her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle is a mercurial, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her. Killing Eve topples the typical spy-action thriller as these two fiercely intelligent women, equally obsessed with each other, go head to head in an epic game of cat and mouse.
