The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is hoping someone saw something early Thursday morning in southwest Calgary after a chase involving a Tsuut'ina police vehicle ended with a separate head-on collision.

The crash resulted in one man's death and two related arrests, ASIRT said in a release.

An officer with Tsuut'ina police tried to stop a suspicious pickup truck driving at a fast rate of speed on the nation's land west of Calgary at about 6:30 a.m. but the truck got away, travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of 37th Street.

Police believe the truck that crashed into a car in Woodbine had been stolen from Chestermere. (Google Maps)

The pickup truck and a smaller car collided head-on between 130th Avenue and 146th Avenue killing the driver of the car, a man in his 50s, EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux said in a release.

The occupants of the truck ran from the scene, Calgary police said.

Two suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested with help from the canine unit. Police are still trying to apprehend a third man. The woman was taken to Foothills hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, EMS said.

A Tsuut'ina police truck was towed from the crash scene. ASIRT is investigating how those officers were involved.

Calgary police say the pickup truck involved in the collision had been stolen from Chestermere and might have been involved in an incident earlier this morning on the Tsuut'ina reserve.

ASIRT is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them at 403-592-4306.
