Rare sighting excites group dedicated to monitoring Wolverines

Video of a wolverine darting through a Lethbridge neighbourhood has been posted to a Facebook page dedicated to the animal.

The group Wolverine Watch posted the 12-second video shot by Joanne Williams on Sunday. It shows the animal running across lawns in the Riverstone subdivision of Lethbridge on June 8.

Wolverine Watch says it was originally focused on the Alberta and B.C.'s Rockies but has tracked the animal as far away as Quebec and Vancouver Island

"Wolverines have an amazing ability to move and disperse, through all types of landscapes," reads the post. "Even out of their typical subalpine-alpine habitats here in the Rockies to the Prairies, where they once roamed.

"Typically young males are the ones that end up in these unlikely places, like this Windy City visitor."
